First Anniversary Letter
Hello!
The idea for Meaningful Rest came from my desire to help tired professionals rest. Coming out of the pandemic, our collective weariness should have lifted. But it didn’t. Like an illness or virus we had before, uninvited, it decided to stay.
I experienced my own weariness turn to burnout, and all around me, I saw others experiencing the same thing.
Unfortunately, something had to break before we realized we needed help. Maybe starting this company was my form of public service announcement. “Come. Get some rest. It’s ok. We all need it. We’re human.”
I started doing what I naturally do. Brainstorm, create, experiment. And write.
I also did some new stuff. Write scripts. Record reels. Go to local networking events.
I can’t say I succeeded. At least, I didn’t die! I’m still here.
I recently wrote about how celebrations were a part of my upbringing and why I still choose to celebrate today. Celebrating helps us remember the good, give honor, as well as create space for rest and recovery.
As we celebrate Meaningful Rest’s first anniversary, I’d like to offer you this small gift as a token of my appreciation: “To Rest is Human.”
Exclusively designed by Julie Talosig, the waves represent nature and its proven calming factor; while the gold symbolizes kintsugi, the Japanese art of creating something new and beautiful out of broken pottery.
